When arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport a T2 Travel representative will be waiting to meet and greet you. Then we will start on our journey to Anuradhapura.

Traveling due north along the western coast of Sri Lanka, we will come to the town of Chilaw. Here we will visit the Munneswaram Kovil. A Hindu temple constructed where according to legend stood a shrine Lord Rama prayed to Shiva, asking for forgiveness after killing the demon king Ravana.

A few kilometers from the Munneswaram Temple is the Manavari Kovil, another Hindu temple closely related to the events of Indian epic Ramayana. According to legend, Lord Rama here installed the first of four lingams as instructed by Shiva. Because it was the first idol of Shiva he erected, this lingam is named Ramalinga Shivan and is one of just two lingams in the world named after Rama.

In the afternoon we will arrive in the Ancient city of Anuradhapura. City from which Sinhala kings ruled the island from the 4th century BC to around 1017 AD. According to archeological data, it exists since at least the 10th century BC, which makes it one of the oldest still continually inhabited cities in the world.

After breakfast at the hotel in Anuradhapura, we will start our journey to Trincomalee.

The first stop we will make at the Mihintale Temple. This temple is a complex of ancient buildings, constructed according to tradition in place of meeting of Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Tissa in the 3rd century BC, which is seen as the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. According to some historians, one of the ancient buildings is the oldest known hospital in the world.

Arriving in Trincomalee, we will visit Fort Frederick. Originally built by Portuguese of stones from ancient Koneswaram Hindu and Gokkana Buddhist temples they raised to the ground in 1622, and further expanded with material from the same source by Dutch in 1665. Most of the area of this fortress is shaded by trees, which provide protection from heat to axis deer that often roam around it.

Afterward, we will visit the nearby Konneswaram Kovil, a Hindu temple with a tradition dating since 205 BC. Throughout history, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times. Before the most recent destruction in 1622, it was known as the Temple of Thousand Pillars, due to such a striking architectural feature.

Near to this temple is the Shankari Devi shrine. Built on the place where according to tradition fell a part of the body of a goddess Sita. This Hindu shrine is one of 18 such holy places, known collectively as 18 Maha Shakti Peethas.

After breakfast at the hotel in Trincomalee, we will embark on a day trip through the area.

In the morning, at 6 o’clock, from Trincomalee Harbor disembark Whale Watching boats. We will take a trip on one of them. At the open sea, we will be able to see the largest animal that ever lived on Earth, the blue whales.

After the trip, we will visit the Pigeon Island National Park, one of the only two marine national parks in Sri Lanka. The shallow water which surrounds the Pigeon Island is rich with thriving corals, which are home to rich ecosystem. The rich wildlife makes Pigeon Island one of the prime spots for Snorkeling and Scuba Diving.

After breakfast at the hotel in Trincomalee, we will get on our way to Sigiriya.

In the morning we will visit the Kanniya Hot Springs. According to legend, these seven hot springs appeared in the places where Ravana in anger hit the ground with his sword seven times.

Continuing on our way, we will visit the Ancient city of Polonnaruwa, city which became the capital of Sinhalese civilization after the sacking of Anuradhapura around 1017 AD.

In the afternoon we will embark on the Jeep Safari through Minneriya National Park. The most important feature of this park is the Minneriya Wewa, an artificial lake constructed in the 3rd century AD. To this lake, during the dry season, migrate the animals from the surrounding area searching for food and water.

After breakfast at the hotel in Sigiriya, we will start the trip to Kandy.

In the morning we will visit the Pidurangala Rock. Located just a short distance from Sigiriya Rock, this summit, which is much easier to reach than the one of Lion Rock, offers a stunningly beautiful view of Lion Rock and its surroundings.

Continuing on our way, we will take a trip through Villages, and first-hand experiences the uncomplicated rural life of Sri Lanka.

Afterward, we will visit the Nalanda Gedige, a unique temple which for centuries lay forgotten among the paddy fields. Constructed between the 8th and 10th century AD, during a turbulent time in Sri Lanka, when Hindu and Buddhist kings fought for supremacy over the island. Its architecture is of a South Indian Pallava style, but inside decorations are erotic carvings of the Tantric Buddhism tradition.

After breakfast at the hotel in Kandy, we will head for Colombo.

In the morning we will visit the Royal Botanic Garden in Peradeniya. These gardens are the largest and most popular on the island. They house more than 4,000 different species of wild, medicinal, and decorative plants, and are renowned for the collection of orchids.

Continuing on our way we will reach the town of Kitulgala, where we will enjoy the White Water Rafting on Kelani River. This river slopes through one of the last virgin rain forests in Sri Lanka and is a very popular adventure spot.

After breakfast at the hotel in Colombo, we will start our trip to Bandaranaike International Airport.

On our way to the airport, we will have an excursion through Colombo. We will visit the Old Fort, the nearby Beira Lake and one of the most popular Buddhist temples, the Gangaramaya Temple. Also, we will visit the National Museum and nearby Independence Memorial Hall. We will also spend time wandering the colorful streets of the historic neighborhood of Pettah.

If time allows it, we will embark on the Last Minute Shopping at the Odel Mall or the House of Shopping.
