Day 1 – Airport to Yala

When arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport a T2 Travels representative will be waiting to meet and greet you. Then we will start on our journey to Yala.

On our way, we will pass through the town of Dondra, where we will visit the Dewundara Lighthouse. This lighthouse was constructed in 1889 and is one of just two dozen specifically designed to house the class of largest lighthouse lenses ever made. It is located on the southernmost point of the island.

Continuing on our way, we will make a stop at the town of Kudawella, were Hummanaya Blowhole is located, the only known blowhole on the island.

In the afternoon we will take a safari in Yala National Park. Featuring several different ecological zones, this park rivals the beauty of the better known African parks. Its Block I is known as the place with the highest concentration of leopards in the world.

Day 2 – Yala to Ella

After breakfast at the hotel in Yala, we will proceed to Ella.

In the morning we will visit one of the most astonishing places of worship in Sri Lanka, the Kataragama Temple complex. This complex is consisting of a Buddhist temple dedicated to Kataragama deviyo, the guardian deity of the island, a Hindu temple dedicated to Murugan, the war god, and a mosque.

Continuing on our way, we will visit two places related to Indian epic Ramayana. Ravana Cave is a place where princess Sitha spent part of her captivity, and also where some of the oldest evidence of human habitation in Sri Lanka was found. The nearby Ravana Ella is a waterfall of stunning beauty under which this Hindu goddess bathed.

The town of Ella is a place of immense natural beauty and a hiking and trekking hotspot. We will hike up to one of the popular spots, Little Adam’s Peak named so after the most famous pilgrimage site.

Day 3 – Ella to Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast at the hotel in Ella, we will get on the road to Nuwara Eliya.

On our way, we will visit one of the most famous bridges in Sri Lanka, the Nine Arches Bridge. It gently curves and spans over a ravine covered by lush green jungle, and is known for the stunning beauty of this sight.

From Ella, we will take a Train Trip to Nuwara Eliya. This part of Sri Lanka’s railway network is known as one of the most scenic train rides in the world, as it snakes around the verdant green hillsides of tea estates and rainforests.

Arriving in Nuwara Eliya we will spend the afternoon enjoying the leisure time on Lake Gregory. Since it was constructed in the late 19th century, this lake offers the enjoyment of trout fishing, boating, or strolling along its banks.

Day 4 – Nuwara Eliya to Kandy

Our journey will start before dawn. Breakfast is provided as a takeaway in Horton Plains National Park.

In the morning, we will visit the Horton Plains National Park. This natural reserve is located 2,000 meters above the sea level and provides bewitching views of Sri Lankan lowlands. This view is for most of the day obscured by mists that settle above valleys in the morning.

The temperate climate of the tea country is friendly to fruits that are an unusual sight in the tropics. Thus we will visit the Strawberry Farm, where you can enjoy the aroma of these particular fruits.

Continuing on our way we will visit a Tea Factory, where on a guided tour you can learn about the history and process of producing some of the best tea in the world.

Arriving in Kandy, we will attend the Kandyan Dance Show, a spectacle that showcases the immaterial heritage of Sinhalese civilization. The traditional dances, which developed from religious rituals and as an art form, and traditional costumes of the Kandyan kingdom.

Day 5 – Kandy to Sigiriya

After breakfast at the hotel in Kandy, we will start our trip to Sigiriya.

In the morning we will visit one of the most revered places in Sri Lanka. Sri Dalada Maligawa, a Buddhist temple that is home to the sacred relic of Buddha’s tooth.

On the outskirts of Kandy is the Royal Botanic Garden. These gardens are home to more than 4,000 different plant species, among which is a world-renowned collection of orchids.

Continuing on our way, we will visit a Spice and Herbal Garden. Since ancient times, Sri Lanka was exporting many spices that grow only on this island. Here you will be able to learn about them.

In the afternoon, we will take a Jeep Safari in Minneriya National Park. This park is located on the shores of the Minneriya Wewa. This artificial lake is historically significant, being constructed in the 3rd century AD and one of the oldest. It is also an important source of food and water for animals that, during the dry seasons, migrate in the park.

Day 6 – Sigiriya to Negombo

After breakfast at the hotel in Sigiriya, we will embark on our journey to Negombo.

In the morning we will visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Constructed on top of the 200 meters high rock in the 5th century AD, it is surrounded by gardens and pools that present a magnificent example of planned urban construction in ancient Sri Lanka.

Continuing on our way, we will pass through the city of Dambulla, and visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla. This cave temple complex exists since the 1st century BC, and is considered to be the largest and best-preserved of its kind, with more than 2,100 square meters of a religious painting of which the majority is from the first millennia of its existence.

In the afternoon we will have a Sightseeing Tour of Negombo. On this tour, we will visit some of the most popular landmarks of this city.

Day 7 – Negombo to Airport

After breakfast at the hotel in Negombo, we will get on our way to Bandaranaike International Airport.

In the morning we will visit the Negombo Fish Market, where you can experience the hustle of the auctions on the largest fish market in Sri Lanka.

Afterward, we will take a boat trip down the Hamilton Canal. Once a very important commercial waterway, it connects the northernmost with the southernmost tip of Negombo and passes by many important landmarks of this city.
